Today is the first day of summer in the Holmes house. Our daughter is sleeping in after finishing 6th grade yesterday. I have the summer off from the daycare, yay for teacher's kids! Today also happens to be my hubby's day of for the week, so we are all home and ready to kick off this summer. We may go to the movies, we may go to the store, we don't even have a plan, just the way I like it.
Unlike the garden, where I feel like my plans are stumbling along this year. I got sick about a month ago and have been slowly getting rid of this fatigue and icky cough. That in turn has effected my garden progress. I dove right in this week getting this in order and situated. We canceled June 1st market due to rain, and what a smart decision that was. I am beyond grateful for our customers who came out on Sunday and basically bought up all the flowers! You all are amazing.
With summer kick off, it also kicks off Farmer's Market season. This year we will be at the Lindenhurst Farmer's Market every other Friday 5-8 PM starting June 14th! I am thrilled to be doing an evening market, we don't have to get up early and the weather will hopefully be cooler in the evenings. Tractor Supply in Antioch is our original market and those are the first Saturday of the month through October.
I have spots available still for presentations and events. The theme for the summer reading program at the Lake Villa District Library is BUGS!!! And yours truly will be presenting for adults and children in July. Be on the look out for events. I have also teamed up with other local businesses to offer classes for all ages including active adults and Antioch Township.
This summer I am hoping to kick off on-site flower classes where you can all join me here and walk the gardens and create your own arrangement to take home. More information to come. I hope you can join us this summer as we spread the joy of flowers and honey throughout the community.
