You are bee-autiful!

Welcome to March! It is almost Spring (17 days to be exact)! Tuesday, March 19th marks the first day of Spring! You can see my excitement by the overuse of exclamation points!!!! Spring is filled with new things, fresh starts, and reminders that even when things look dark and dreary, there is that glimmer of hope that things will change.

Here at Holmes Honey & Fresh Cut Flowers, we are working on kick starting the season with a bang, lol! We have been starting seeds every weekend according to the recommendations on each seed packet. Some are started in the house, some are started in the greenhouse, others are going to be planted outside, with no indoor time! I have a LOT of seeds to start as I am almost doubling my growing space this year.

Also this year, we have some fancy tulips peeking out already, along with our always favorite and unique daffodils. These early bloomers are a sure sign that Spring is right around the corner. I can't wait to get these out at the stand for you all to enjoy, not sure if they will be ready by this early Easter, but April and May are gonna be full of amazing Spring flowers.

Honey can be found at the stand on these warmer weekends. This weekend will almost hit 70!!! You can even notice the difference in color from our different harvest dates. The darker honey is our later harvest and what we like to call "sunflower" honey...The darker color of the honey comes from the darker pollen colors the bees encounter later in the season. It is fascinating to see the variety of colors that we harvest each year. I keep a small jar of honey after each harvest and display it on a shelf so we can see how different each harvest has been. I also bring these along for presentations and kids and adults are amazed

at how range of colors.

This Spring we are so excited to share more and more with you. My calendar is quickly filling up with classroom presentations, Earth Day events and even summer camp presentations. Don't forget to reach out if you would like me to share my love and knowledge with your group, any ages! AND new this summer, will be classes and time at our property to see the flowers and peek at the bees. We cannot wait to share it all with you, it is going to be bee-autiful!
